Holika Dehan & The Supreme Bliss

1. What is Holi all about.?
2. What does it signify?
3. What are the mythological stories telling us about Holi and what do they teach?
4. What is the message behind it?

And last but not least how is it making a connect with Astrology???

These were the questions that use to come since past 2 years for any celebration. As all the festivities hold a deep significance in our lives since childhood. Till few years it was all about looking forward to the seasons and the celebrations. Thoughts came but I dint get the answers of these ??

The story highlights are references to the questions above:

-Hiranyakashipu
-Holika dehan
-Prahlad
-Narsimha Avtar
-Tearing the stomach apart keeping him On his leg
-Prahlad coming out of the Holi fire.

As the story goes, it says Holika was the sister of the demon king Hiranyakashipu and the aunt of Prahlad.

Holika is known for her role in attempting to kill Prahlad, who was a devoted follower of Lord Vishnu. And used to keep chanting his name, looking at this his father Hiranyakashipu had got a boon he will not be killed by any one will not die because of any living being created neither inside nor outside; neither during the day nor at night; neither from any known weapon nor by any other thing; neither on the ground nor in the sky nor by any human being or animal. He got very jealous, irritated and insecure. And wanted his own son to die.

He told his sister to sit in the fire with Prahlad as she had a boon that even fire cannot burn her, but Holika was burnt to ashes while Prahlad remained unharmed.

Now This event symbolizes the victory of good over evil.
This is a story that we all have heard since childhood. And are unconsciously following it.

Let’s see it from our Astrological point of view what is it relating to.

The name "Hiranyakashipu" is derived from Sanskrit words:

सोने का बना हुआ; अविनाशी या बहुमूल्य धातु ।

1. "Hiranya": which means "gold" or "wealth."
2. "Kashipu": which refers to comfort.

But in simple terms we can say Hiranyakashipu means lobh / lalach / never ending desires / jealousy and aggression.

Holika is referred as his sister, means “distortion”

In Hindi, "Dehan" (दहन) means "burning" or "combustion."

"Prahlad" is composed of two elements:
Pra + Hlad

1. "Pra": which means "extreme" or "supreme."
2. "Hlad": which means "joy" or "bliss." = one who brings extreme joy or supreme bliss.

And he was doing what? He was a devotee of Lord Vishnu and had faith on his lord and selfless and surrendered.

So now if we again go back to the story and see it says the King was jealous, dint want his Son to take lord Vishnu’s name, and in that jealousy he was ready to kill his own son Prahlad (no strings attached) the greed had totally taken over his mind (illusion) (jealousy to be the only one)

Hiranyakashipu is none other than us
Holika is none other than our desires, wishes and jealousy.

Prahlad is none other than the devotion and faith that we need to have on the Supreme.

Tearing the stomach apart is the extreme desires we have, the jealousy we feel from others success and achievements. Though it starts from the 2nd and the 3rd house again eyes and ears further multiplying it manifolds in the subconscious mind. Leading it to the stomach as we hold all the desires in our stomach. As there is a saying. “Pet hai ya Khyi“

"Narasimha Avtar," in this incarnation, God's form is half human and half lion.

Nar = Human
Simha - ferocious like a lion.

Now connecting it with Astrology significance of (Houses 2,5,8,11)

As Hiranyakashipu wanted to accumulate everything (spoil 2nd house) Lord tearing apart his stomach. (5th house) causing a transformation (8th house of death) and further crossing (11th house) attaining Bliss (Prahlad) .

When we let go of all these distractions and distortion’s, such as those Guilts, regrets, jealousy, greed to achieve more, showoff, holding on dwesh, ghrina, lalach. From others and burn / dehan it in into that Holi fire (Jab hum dehan kar dete hai in Sab negative feelings thoughts ka tabhi Prahlad ki utpatti hoti hai hamare liye). We start to walk on that path with faith to attain that supreme bliss.
